Just in the Nick

Frantically he searched the reference books he’d accumulated throughout his 25 years of writing prose. He’d transcribed 67 words of a 69 word story, and his brain had suddenly shut down. This happened often, always at the most inopportune moments. If anyone knew of his malady they would surely use it against him. Luckily, he’d always recovered just in time; as he did here. Relieved, he added
